Fukakusa Motohiro Shihan's visit to Academy Aikido Jyuku, Kuala Lumpur, brought great moments to the aikido-ka from affiliated dojos who came to practice at HQ Dojo on the 1st of Dec 2005. Fukakusa Shihan's Aikido assignment started in Thailand in September 1966, whereas Yamada Jun Shihan started in Malaysia in November 1971. Both also contribute to the development of Aikido in other countries under the supervision and approval from Aikikai Foundation/Hombu Dojo in Japan. Fukakusa Shihan's first step of Aikido was made at Asia University, whilst Yamada Jun Shihan was at Takushoku University in Japan. Both Shihan founded their base in Thailand and Malaysia respectively and their lives spent abroad is now longer than the years they had in their homeland. Today, both continue to live their lives as Aikido Shihans. Fukakusa Shihan was astonished by the development in the capital which he did not see in his first visit to Kuala Lumpur 30 years ago. He also visited the Kota Kemuning Dojo in Shah Alam. |
Eased in mind and body. Mr. Hiroshi Somemiya had a break in Kuala Lumpur from 11-13th November 2004. After the hectic preparation and monitoring the 9th IAF Congress, Mr Somemiya dropped by Kuala Lumpur to dine with his old colleagues, Yamada Shihan and his wife. He was able to feel the holiday atmosphere as the Hari Raya Festival forced him to sit back and relax to feel the festive mood. Mr Somemiya visited Academy Aikido Jyuku HQ Dojo at Hartamas and spent most of his time enjoying the infra red light on his painful back. He was unable to meet 's Chairman of YB. Dato Sri (Dr) Mohd Effendi Norwawi however Mr. Somemiya was contacted by Dato Sri from overseas while he was here. |
"The portrait of the Founder and a Shinto altar" became the first hot topic of conversation with Mr. Somemiya when he stepped into Academy Aikido Jyuku HQ Dojo. Mr. Somemiya recalled the rare opportunity which happened a few decades ago when witnessing the Founder's photograph taken in 1966. It was a coincidence because after the morning practice, Mr Somemiya went up to the rooftop of the new Hombu Dojo and happened to see O-sensei praying and a colleague took O-sensei's picture. We look forward to having Mr Somemiya in KL again. It was a very short trip, hopefully his next will be longer. |
